Abstract
According to the Open Access Advocacy organization, SPARC, Open Access (OA) is defined as "the free, immediate, online availability of research articles coupled with the rights to use these articles fully in the digital environment. Open Access ensures that anyone can access and use these results—to turn ideas into industries and breakthroughs into better lives." (https://sparcopen.org/open-access/)
Becoming an Open Access-friendly institution typically requires support from a university’s administrators, librarians, researchers, and students.
The following recommendations for an SDSU OA initiative include benefits, steps, and vision for long-range support of Open Access at South Dakota State University.
