Abstract

Groups included in the dataset met at least one of the following criteria: they hosted in-person events, maintained an online presence, or held at least one event in the study area.
/="/">Variables include:

  • Organization Name
  • Organization Type (e.g., national non-profit, local non-profit, state agency, for-profit)
  • Mission/Vision Statement
  • Focus of Programming (e.g., hunting, fishing, survival, other outdoor recreation)
  • Year Established
  • Website
  • Social Media Links (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Podcast, Gear Shop)

Methods Summary: We compiled this database through iterative social media and online searches, keyword targeting, and snowball sampling via outreach to networks of women leaders. Data were collected between February 2023 and September 2024. Program inclusion required evidence of formal structure and hands-on, in-person learning opportunities. Informal virtual groups and discussion-only forums were excluded. We verified program information directly with organization representatives and refined the dataset based on user feedback gathered through 11 focus groups, 7 conferences, and 2 community of practice sessions. This database also served as the foundation for the accompanying interactive Kumu social systems map.
