Description

The historical exclusion of tribal governments from the US public health system has contributed to health disparities that are endemic to many tribal communities. This lack of integration has impeded access to high quality data for critical public health action and decision-making. Federally funded tribal epidemiology centers serve as a vital link to American Indian/Alaska Native health data for increasing our understanding of health risks, strengthening public health capacity, and assisting in disease prevention and control. This presentation will feature potential solutions for enhancing data infrastructure in support of improved health status of Northern Plains American Indian communities.
