Summary
The introduction found on the first page provides a "situation report", some economic advatages of sheep production, a listing of important South Dakota sheep producing counties, and goals that producers will reach for in the future. Sheep are a significant part of the live stock industry of our state. This situation report briefly reviews these facts.
Throughout my discussion I will mention some important factors in managing a flock which you might consider. The slide series I use will emphasize the discussion "Good Breeding, Good Feeding, and Skillful Care are Required for a High Yield of Lambs." High-lambing percentages, determind at marketing time, are obtained by having prolific ewes, by producing thrifty lambs, and by saving as many as possible.
