Abstract
The objective of this project was to completely characterize the reflective bands of the Landsat 4 Thematic Mapper so that a cross calibration to Landsat 5 Thematic Mapper would be possible and, then, to attempt that cross calibration. This entailed analyzing the internal calibrator to verify the system was stable throughout the life of the instrument, applying existing correction models to the data to remove scan correlated shift and memory effect artifacts, and determining and applying a relative gain model to the data. Then, when the Landsat 4 data was completely corrected, a cross calibration model using Landsat 4 and Landsat 5 geolocated data was determined.
