Abstract
This thesis presents a history of the Lakota Times, Indian Country Today, and the Lakota Journal. It also provides information about the founding of the three newspapers, the challenges that those involved in the operation of the three newspapers have faced, and the impacts that the three papers have had on Native American journalism, mainstream American journalism, and Native Americans in general.
