Abstract

The purpose of this research is to study incompatible landscapes along the freeways in urban America. The study reveals how the urban freeway and green areas (greenscapes) bordering the expressways are both part of urban culture. Each of these elements has become essential to everyday life in urban areas; however, they exist in conflict with one another. The study also addresses the question of whether or not greenscapes have an environmental impact, or are just a mask to cover an environmental eyesore.
