Abstract

Please be advised that the names listed in the program do not constitute official confirmation of meeting the graduation requirements. The 133rd Undergraduate Commencement ceremonies at South Dakota State University, scheduled for May 4, 2019, will include morning and afternoon sessions. Each session will begin with remarks by University President Barry H. Dunn. Provost Dennis D. Hedge, Vice President for Academic Affairs, will acknowledge student honors. Lt. Col. Brian K. Schroeder and Lt. Col. Stephen Sewell will recognize Army and Air Force officers' commissions. The MORNING ceremony will confer degrees from the College of Agriculture, Food, and Environmental Sciences, Jerome J. Lohr College of Engineering, College of Natural Sciences, and the College of Nursing. Honorary marshals for this session are Carol Johnston, Professor Emeritus of Natural Resource Management, and Alireza Salehnia, Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Larry Tidemann will deliver the commencement address titled, "Live Your Life on Solid Ground." Tidemann will also be awarded a Doctor of Public Service honorary degree. Madison Hokanson, a candidate for graduation, will provide comments on behalf of the graduating class. The AFTERNOON ceremony will confer degrees from the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, College of Education and Human Sciences, and the College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Professions. Honorary marshals for this session are Nancy Lyons, Associate Professor of Consumer Sciences, and David Graper, Professor of Agronomy, Horticulture, and Plant Science. Dr. Robert Burns, Professor Emeritus of Political Science and Dean Emeritus of the Honors College, will deliver the commencement speech titled, "It's Your Future - Save It." Giving comments on behalf of the graduating class is Kevy Konynenbelt, a candidate for graduation.
